Bareback

BAREBACK was produced in a contest context called “Margarita Arnaudova”. I was chosen by Ballet Arabesk, BG, alongside with 3 other young choreographers to create a piece for the company using Bulgarian music as a duty. BAREBACK was presented at the Musical Theater in Sofia together with the other three contestants. I received the price of INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO CHOREOGRAPHY.

Author: Aleksandar Georgiev.

Music: Stefan Galabof.  Performers: Arabesk Company.

Duration: 30 min.

This project focuses on convenience as state and term. Social and personal amenities are directly related to the physical and social normative communication of people, objects or well-learnt activities. BAREBACK proposes a profound scenario where we act and perform without the safety of mannerism or known strategies.  The term ” Bareback ” comes from horseback riding and sex terminology, which refers to the practice of saddleless riding and choosing consciously and deliberately to give up condoms in sex. When choices are made deliberately and intentionally, Bareback riding requires skill, balance and coordination, and the rider does not have the equipment to compensate for the mistakes of equilibrium or skill. It is claimed that bareback riding is natural, allowing great communication with the horse, and improving the balance of the rider. Let’s ride that up!
